Ein elementarer Bestandteil des Lehrgangs sind die Kontrastpaare (z.B. Nase - Nüsse). Um den unterschiedlichen Rhythmus der Wörter erfassen zu können, werden parallel dazu rhythmische Klatsch- und Sprechspiele und eine spezielle Häuschenschreibweise eingeübt.
In den Kontrastpaaren werden Wörter gegenübergestellt, die ähnlich klingen, sich aber im Rhythmus (offene, geschlossene Silbe) unterscheiden. Um die Konsonantenverdoppelung z.B. in dem Wort Hütte im Gegensatz zu Hüte spontan schreiben zu können, muss der unterschiedliche Rhythmus der beiden Wörter wahrgenommen werden. Das erfolgt durch Üben in drei Phasen:

rhythmisches Sprechen und Klatschen (Musikbegleitung steigert Motivation und Lernerfolg)
Sprechen und Schreiten der Wörter
Schreiben im Silbenhaus

Die Zusammenstellung der Paare trainiert dabei jedes Phänomen zu den Doppelkonsonanten einschließlich ck, tz, Umlaute und Diphthonge. Die gewählten Wörter sind größtenteils aus dem Grundwortschatz und sind so auch als Wortschatzarbeit zu verstehen.
